We build games that respect players.
Clickivo is a Berlin-based studio operating at the intersection of game design and behavioral psychology. We reject the "time-suck" economy prevalent in mobile gaming. Instead, we engineer "joy loops" designed for satisfaction, not addiction. Our team doesn't just make games; we build ecosystems where players feel valued, not harvested.
The Clickivo Code
Non-negotiable boundaries that define every prototype we ship.
We refuse to design deceptive UI. No "confirm shame," no hidden costs, and no forced social loops. If a player wants to leave, we make exit graceful.
We only collect what improves the game. No third-party selling, no behavioral tracking beyond the app. Our analytics serve the player, not the advertiser.
Scalable text, color-blind modes, and remappable controls are baked in from day one. We don't "add" accessibility; it's the foundation.
Games must run smoothly on 5-year-old hardware. We treat "optimization debt" as a critical bug, not a post-launch patch item.
The Speed vs. Depth Dilemma
Game development is a series of compromises. At Clickivo, we map these trade-offs explicitly before writing code. This is how we maintain creative integrity while hitting deadlines.
- Velocity vs. Systems Integrity Rushing a feature often creates "tech debt" that breaks the economy later. We mitigate this by building modular systems, even if it takes 20% longer upfront.
- Polish vs. Performance High-fidelity VFX looks great but kills frame rates on older phones. Our solution: dynamic resolution scaling and "budgeted" particle systems.
- Feature Scope vs. The 10-Second Rule We cut features that don't reinforce the core loop within the first 10 seconds of gameplay. Complexity is the enemy of retention.
Field Note: The "Merge" Pivot
"A solo dev client insisted on a complex inventory system for his puzzle game. We built a greybox, tested it, and found players spent 40% of their time managing items, not solving puzzles. We killed the feature and replaced it with a 'smart auto-sort'. Retention spiked 18% in week one.
From Napkin to Alpha
Paper & Pen
Defining the "Primary Verb" before pixels touch the screen. If it's not fun on paper, it won't be fun in code.
Game Feel First
Zero art. We test input latency, haptic response, and the "juice" of the interaction loop here.
Identity & Aura
Audio-visual integration. We ensure the "skin" reinforces the mechanics, not obscures them.
The Constellation of Specialists
We are not a hierarchy; we are a collective. The "Architects" build the rules, the "World-Weavers" craft the atmosphere, and the "Feel Engineers" obsess over the click. Every Friday, we cross-pollinate in a blame-free playtest.
Visit the Playground
Our studio in Berlin-Mitte is a working lab. The "War Room" is where concepts are dissected, and the "Quiet Pods" are where code is refined. If you want to see how we work, come by for a session.
